TisTalk – What’s on w/c 20 May 2024

 

On Tuesday the Tisbury Parish Council ENVIRONMENT COMITTEE are meeting in the Parish Reading Room at 6pm and all are welcome.

On Wednesday TIS-TOTS is in the Methodist Church from 10am-11:30am.

And in the evening, there is the TISBURY FOOTPATH CLUB EVENING WALK. This starts at the Nadder Close car park at 6:15pm. Contact Andy Taylor to book on 07721 748198.

Also on Wednesday evening, the ROH Ballet, THE WINTER’S TALE is showing in the Victoria Hall at 7:15pm with the bar open from 6:45pm. Tickets are £15 and £8 for under 18s.

On Thursday, the WILTSHIRE SIGHT DROP IN HUB is in the Nadder Centre from 11-12pm. 

And later, there is AFTERNOON TEA in the Victoria Hall from 2:30-4:15pm. Call Marion on 01747 870813 to book.

On Thursday evening, the NEW VIC@TISBURY is holding an OPEN MEETING & AGM in the Victoria Hall at 7pm. The formal business will be kept short to ensure the main discussion will be around future works and events.

On Friday, there is FAMILY FRIDAY in the Methodist Church from 3:30-5pm 

Also on Friday, from 3-6pm, there is a preview of the WILDLIFE IN THE NADDER VALLEY exhibition at Messums. This is a project with 3 local schools, Port Regis, St John’s and Semley, to explore and record Nadder Valley wildlife and the natural environment.

And on Friday evening, Messums kick-off its weekend of DE NADDER: NOTHING BUT THE WORD, a series of events celebrating the ‘Word’ with walks and talks through theatre and voice. 

On Saturday morning the TISBURY NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY EXCURSION is to Bentley Woods, to see butterflies with Andrew Graham. This starts at the Nadder Centre Car Park at 9:30am.

Also on Saturday, Messums begins its ‘Nothing but the Word’ events with: 

·         STORYSTOCK, a day of activities including puppetry, music and a workshop bringing to life the story of ‘Mr Gumpy’s Outing’ by the late John Burningham. This starts at 10am and tickets are £20. 

·         And later in the day, POSTING LETTERS TO THE MOON, is a reading of the wartime letters between the actress Celia Johnson and her husband Peter Fleming, by their daughter Lucy. This starts at 5pm and tickets are £25 with the option to stay on and enjoy a 2-course supper for £35 which starts at 7pm.

Later on Saturday evening, from 8pm at Tisbury Sports & Social Club, there is LIVE MUSIC FROM JEMIMA & THE FIVE.

On Sunday, ;spoken word’ events continue at Messums:

·         At 11am, A STRANGER COMES TO TOWN, is a story by Barney Norris, exploring the things we throw away and how they can define us. Tickets are £20.

·         At 3pm, Lucy Hayes’s play BROTHER WITCH is a story of the trial of France’s last Witch. Tickets are £25.

·         And at 4pm, there is a NADDER POETRY & NATURE WALK a contemplative walk with actor Pippa Haywood. Tickets are £5.
