TisTalk – What’s on w/c 13 May 2024
On Tuesday 14th evening, the TISBURY HISTORY SOCIETY’s guest speaker is Primrose Campbell, Head of Classics at Godolphin School. Her talk is on ‘Henry Lamb: Painter and Polymath’. This is in the Hinton Hall and starts at 7:30pm.
On Wednesday 15th, there is a TISBUS OUTING to Furzey Gardens and Café. Departure time is 9:30am. Tickets are £9 and the Tisbus fare £12. This trip is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Also on Wednesday morning, TIS-TOTS is in the Methodist Church from 10am-11:30am
And TISBURY MEMORY GROUP are meeting in the Hinton Hall from 10am to 12 noon. Guest, the Rev Juliette Hulme, will be sharing her own version of Desert Islands Discs. Everyone is welcome to come along.
On Wednesday afternoon, there is a Techie Tea Party in the Nadder Centre from 1pm-4pm. This is for anyone who needs support using their mobile phone. Refreshments are available and the event is free. Call 01722 434437 to book a place.
On Friday 17th, TISBURY MEMORY GROUP is again in action. Together with Celebrate Age, it is hosting a fascinating MOBILE MUSEUM event, bringing Cold War history to life with artifacts and memory boxes. This is in the Hinton Hall from 2pm-4pm and is free with tea and cake provided. To book a place call 07955 249288.
Also on Friday, there is the HINDON SAFARI SUPPER, an evening of ‘no cooking and wandering from house to house meeting new friends and eating delicious offerings. Tickets are on sale in the Hindon Shop and funds raised will go to the ‘Help for Hindon’ fund.
On Saturday 18th morning, the COMMUNITEA CAFÉ BREAKFAST will be in the Methodist Church from 9:30am until 12 noon.
And the TISBURY COUNTRY MARKET is in the Victoria Hall between 10am-11am.
In the afternoon, from 12 noon to 1:45, there is a BAKE SALE AND OUTDOOR YOGA at Pythouse Tennis Club in aid of Dementia UK.
And also on Saturday, Carnival Film are showing WONKA, starring Timothee Chalamet in the title role. This is in the Victoria Hall both at 2:30pm and again at 7:30pm. Tickets are £8 for adults and £5 for under 18s with a bar open 30 minutes before both performances.
On Sunday 19th, there is an OPEN GARDEN at Old Fonthill Abbey Grounds with bluebell woods, Rhododendrons and a BBQ from 10:30-4:30pm. Donations raised are for Cure Parkinson’s and local charities.
And also on Sunday, Exhibition on Screen – LEONARDO: THE WORKS is showing in the Victoria Hall with both a matinee at 4pm and an evening performance at 7pm. This film presents every single painting attributed to Leonardo, in ultra HD quality, offering unparalleled access for the first time. Tickets are £10 with bar available prior to both shows.
